Hi! Welcome back to my next post on planning. Great to see you here as that means you have some kind of interest in planning and are looking to get your life in a bit of order. If you have not yet read my previous post, you can do so here.
As mentioned, planning doesn’t require any fancy tools to get started. You don’t need a million pretty stickers, pretty washi tapes or a whole bunch of markers. All you need, is a plain notebook, a pen, one or two highlighters and a ruler (although not necessary).
When I first got into planning, I didn’t even buy a new notebook. I had a notebook laying around with spare pages so I ripped out the used pages and what was left was what I used. If you have kids who have finished school for the term/year and have plenty of student notebooks laying around, use those! Don’t throw them away, there are bound to be plenty of pages unused in their exercise books.
So now that we have our tools, you want to start thinking about what you want to plan. Think about all the different areas of your life and decide which part of your life do you want to streamline, to save time or make things less stressful. It could be something simple like keeping track of all the tasks you need to do on a daily basis – you have so many that you can’t keep track of what needs to be done and you keep forgetting.
Perhaps you have a lot of things to do at work and need help tracking what tasks to tackle next?
Do you have a project coming up that you need to plan and complete lots of little things in order to complete that task?
Do you have a birthday that you need to organise?
What about a holiday coming up that you need to plan for?
Are you getting married (congratulations!) and need to plan out lots of things?!
Since we’re just beginning to identify what we want to plan, don’t worry about putting too much thought into the details or what we need to plan first. Just brainstorm and jot down anything that you can think of that you want to plan, we’ll work out the details later on. Remember, organising and planning doesn’t have to be hard. It can be as simple or as detailed as you want it to be. So go on, take some time out this week to brainstorm and then start choosing where you’d like to start.
Look forward to seeing you back here for more planning 🙂
