Hi loves! Thanks for joining me in another edition of my monthly empties. I feel like this month has been quite busy using up so many products. It feels almost like in one month I go through so much then the next month, not much at all – do you feel the same? On to today’s post, here are this month’s empties.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer – 6.8ml – 25 Medium
This product I’m sure you know, gets talked about a tonne. It’s so creamy, coverage is great, has minimal creasing under the eyes and is no doubt one of the best drugstore concealers. My shade is 25 Medium and I’ve gone through so many of these already and will continue to do so until it becomes discontinued (which I hope it never does!). If you haven’t tried this, definitely get your hands on it – you won’t regret it.
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Concealer – 6ml – Light
Again, another one of Maybelline’s great under eye concealers (way to go Maybelline!). The consistency of this compared to the Fit Me concealer is a little thinner, it blends well, covers well and doesn’t sit too heavy or cakey underneath your eyes. The shade light is a little too light for my dark circles so I use medium for under my eyes and use the shade light on top of my cheek bones and around under the eye bags just to brighten up the area a little. This is my second favourite drugstore concealer (behind the Fit Me). Again if you haven’t tried this, you should definitely give it a go.
Maybelline Dream Wonder Fluid-Touch Foundation – 20ml – 70 Pure Beige
I only just realised as I was writing this that I’ve got quite a few Maybelline products this month! I’m really really upset about this product because I walked into Chemist Warehouse the other day and walked out not seeing this and I wondered why. It wasn’t until I looked it up that discovered two of my all time favourite foundations have been discontinued! This and the L’oreal Nude Magique foundation. Had I have known this, I probably wouldn’t have used it up so fast but anyway, never mind.
This foundation is water based which means that the consistency is on the lighter, not so thick side, which I love. When applied, it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey at all and feels quite soft and flawless on the skin. One thing I will mention though is that if you have oily skin, by about the 5-8 hour mark, you will see this start to break down on your skin. If you’re the type to touch or scratch your face throughout the day, you will see little streaks on your face and will be a little shiny around your T-zone area. I powder my face in the morning and with most foundations, by lunch time, the oils still peep through anyway. It definitely has it’s cons but because of how light and natural this feels, I loved this foundation.
Sephora Instant Eye Makeup Remover – 25ml
This product was ok. I bought it on a whim (like you do when you’re in any makeup store), and although it did it’s job, I thought it was quite average in hindsight. Besides the fact that it’s blue, it claims to have been “formulated without parabens or fragrance and suits even sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers”. It didn’t irritate my eyes or anything however I did notice a hint of fragrance when pouring this product out into a cotton pad.
Given that I thought this was average and that any drugstore eye remover can achieve the same results and is more readily available (since there’s not many Sephora stores opened yet here in Australia), I probably won’t be repurchasing this.
Johnson’s pure cotton 50 large all purpose pads
Just your standard every day cotton pads except these are in the large size which I much prefer over the little small round ones. It just covers more area and you can remove your eye makeup with just one pad. Yep, will definitely be repurchasing these.
Kmart Beauty Care Co cleansing face wipes – Coconut Scented – 30 wipes – 17cm x 19cm
If you’ve read a few of my posts, you’ll know that when it comes to products that get used up so fast, I opt for the cheapest ones I can find. Kmart face wipes are one of those items that are not only cheap but they’re great. Originally they were sold for $2 but are now permanently down to $1.50! So cheap!
I’ve gone through a tonne of these and will most definitely continue to do so. They’re a good size, do the job well and given that this one is scented, it’s not too overbearing / harsh on your skin. They’re also very soft and gentle on your skin too which I love. If you double / triple cleanse your face then you will have absolutely no issues with these. Definitely stock up next time you’re in Kmart – you just can’t go wrong.
Daiso oil blotting sheets – 100 sheets
I feel oil blotting sheets are still something that drugstores don’t yet carry enough of and so when I saw these at Daiso I just had to get some. They’re simple yet effective enough to do it’s job and remove some of that excess oil before touching up throughout the day. For $2.80, you can’t go wrong and you don’t have to feel guilty when using several of these sheets at a time. Definitely a winner – I already have a few more stocked up in my collection.
Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips – 6 pack
Ok I wasn’t sure if this was just a gimmick or if it was because of my nose or because I wasn’t using this correctly but I felt like this was absolutely useless to me. Very minimal blackheads were on the strip when I peeled this off and upon inspecting my nose after use, there were still blackheads visible in my pores. If anything, it probably did make my nose a little smoother due to the dead skin peeling off when the strip was removed but besides that, no bueno.
Having said so, I gave some of this to my family and friends to try and for some, more blackheads were seen compared to mine and others had huge amounts and it looked like it clearly worked, so I guess it really depends on the size of your pores and blackheads and how easy they are to pull out.
Overall, below average product for me – I’d give this a miss.
Mitchum clinical 48hr protection anti-perspirant and deodorant – 45g – Pure Fresh
Last but not least, this product I thought was quite good. The smell is quite fresh and you do feel fresh when you apply this. I’m not sure if this protects you for 48hrs since it gets washed off in the shower but for a brand that I originally hadn’t heard of before, it was better than I anticipated.
I’ve got a few other anti-perspirants/deodorants that I want to try so will probably repurchase this again some stage down the line.
And that’s it guys! I hope you enjoyed. I feel like that was a lot of products for this month. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll catch you guys again soon!
Until next time! xo
