Hi lovelies, hope you’re all having a lovely day. I can’t believe we’ve already gone through Feb, this year is going by way too fast.
Today I thought I’d bring you a short post of some of the items I used up in Feb and slowly incorporate these empties posts into my blog.
Now I’d always get confused when watching youtubers do one of these videos because I always thought how the hell do they use up all those products in a month? But no, it’s actually only products that they’ve finished that month (and not particularly starting and finishing the same product in that month, if that makes sense) – just in case you’re confused as I was. Anyways, now that’s clear, moving on to the products.
Caudalie Micellar Water – 100mL – $17
Upon first opening this, the first thing I noticed was the lovely smell of grapes – it wasn’t very overpowering but the scent was noticeable enough for you to recognise what it was. This does a good job at removing makeup whilst leaving your skin feeling soft and smooth. Like all micellar waters claim, you can choose not to rinse your face with water but for extra cleanse, I like to use a face cleanser afterwards just to get everything off.
This comes in a bottled packaging with a pump which is something I’d usually appreciate if the product was a foundation or something messy but because this is water, very lightweight and the fact the bottle is small itself, I found it much easier to hold the bottle and pump product as opposed to leaving it on a bench top or counter and risking the bottle from toppling over in the process of pumping if I chose to get the product that way.
Overall this product is good and I’d rate this very comparable to the Bioderma Cleansing Water (which is my current fave).
Sephora Smoothing Primer – 15mL – $20
I briefly spoke about this in my daily makeup routine post a while back. Like most primers, this contains Dimethicone which gives that smooth, slippery texture upon application. For 15ml, this did last me a while and the product itself is decent. I have combo/oily skin and so no matter what primer I use I’m bound to get oily anyway by the end of the day.
Again, packaging does come with a pump which I like for this and a little does go a long way. The fact that this costs only $20 means it’s cheap and affordable enough to use everyday.
Overall, good product and I probably will repurchase again down the track.
Sephora gentle eye makeup remover gel – 125mL – $15
Whilst browsing Sephora isles, this caught my eye and the concept of a gel makeup remover really got me curious. Gel removers may have been around for a long time but I personally have never used it before, only liquid or oil based, so I thought I’d give it a try.
The product itself is ok, it does the job at removing makeup however the texture of this feels a little funny on my eyes. Maybe because I wasn’t used to this but with a cotton pad, it felt somewhat squishy and weird as I was removing the makeup. At one stage, I wasn’t sure if the product was going in my eyes and whether or not it was safe (I mean of course it is otherwise it wouldn’t be sold).
Packaging does come with a pump and for greater control, again I’d hold this in my hand and pump the required amount. For 125mL at $15 this is quite cheap but because of the texture, I probably prefer liquid/oil removers over gel, so I won’t be repurchasing this.
Kmart Green Tea Cleansing Wipes – $2
For something that is so easily dispensable, I tend not to spend anymore than $5 on a pack of wipes and so for $2, you just can’t beat Kmart or Target’s $2 wipes. Even when other brands are on sale, these are still cheaper – winning!
These come in a pack of 30 and for everyday use, they do the job just fine. If you’re like me and want to get everything off and use a cleanser even after wipes or micellar water, these work absolutely fine to get the bulk of the makeup off.
For $2, these are super cheap, can’t complain. I’ve repurchased this several times and will continue to do so.
L’oreal Nude Magique Foundation with spf 18 – Shade 140 Pure Beige – 20mL
This is one of my most favourite drugstore foundations that’s been repurchased at least twice.
If you have oily skin like me, this isn’t the best product to use as the product will break down and go patchy and streaky, but the reason why I love it so much is because it’s so lightweight and easy to wear – it literally feels like you have nothing on your face.
Coverage I’d say is light to medium with wear time being roughly 6-8 hours before the oils start to seep through and you need to touch up.
The packaging is made out of frosted glass and doesn’t come with a pump so you’ll need to pour it on the back of your hand, straight onto your brush or on your finger and dot all over your face to apply.
At only 20ml per bottle, you’re getting a little less compared to the standard foundation size but overall, it is a great everyday product and I would recommend this. Definitely a repurchase time and time again in future for me.
Available at Priceline, Chemist Warehouse and selected supermarkets
Rimmel London Stay Matte powder – 001 Transparent – 14g
I bought this as it was listed on Pinterest’s top drugstore powder products.
The product is decent and does help keep oils at bay. Due to my oily skin, I always powder in the morning and with this, I didn’t see any oils coming through until just after lunch.
For 14g of product and everyday use, this lasted me about a year and even then, the only reason I finished this was because I’d hit pan and then the powder shattered and broke so that was the end of that.
As for packaging, terrible! The fact that this isn’t a compact and the lid comes off separate gets too fidgety – you have to worry about taking the lid off, putting it on the table, not dropping it and break it etc. Also for whatever reason (and how I don’t know) but my lid cracked and the more I used it, the more cracks it had to the point that it completely broke into 2 pieces, I had to sticky tape them back together just so I could still have a lid to protect the product when not in use. You shouldn’t have to worry about this when applying makeup, it should be a stress free, easy calming process right? As for travelling, forget it. Don’t worry about packing this with you, there’s no secure snap or anything on the lid so it could potentially break open in your bag and get messy. Rimmel please – fix this.
Overall, the product itself is good but I probably won’t be repurchasing.

Last but not least – Tarte Amazonian clay blush in Natural Beauty – 5.6g – $38
Now I didn’t really get to enjoy this blush as I purchased it in America a few years back and it shattered in transit on my way home. After a couple of uses, the powder continued to break. I know you can use rubbing alcohol to bind it back together but given the amount of blushes I have waiting for me to go through, I figured I’d just get rid of it.
From what I did use, the blush itself is good – nicely pigmented, the colour gave a nice rosy flush to the cheeks and is buildable.
Packaging is very cute and sturdy and I do like this overall. I do have a few more Tarte blushes in my collection so I won’t be repurchasing this any time soon. Would I recommend this? yes I would. I mean there are better blushes out there but this is a good product to have in your collection, too many blushes never hurt anyone 😛
That just about sums up Feb’s empties. I hope you guys enjoyed!
Until next time xo
