Hi beauties, today we are discussing what beauty products do you use on a daily basis?
We each have different lifestyles and how much make up we like to wear everyday varies from person to person.
The busy mum may not have a lot of time in the morning so minimal makeup in a 5 minute routine may be crucial.
If you’re working, putting your face on in the morning may take anywhere between 5-30 minutes.
Moisturiser may just be the only thing you’ll need if you’re going to school.
Regardless of what your current life situation is, I’d love to know what beauty/makeup products you use and how long it takes you to get ready for your day every morning.
I for starters cannot do my full face in 5 minutes to save my life so forget about those 5 minute make up challenges! Fail for sure!
What do you consider is your everyday make up look?
I work in an office all day and the amount of steps I go through never used to be like this so don’t judge – just saying.
Moisturiser
To start off my routine, I like to apply moisturiser after washing my face in the morning. This never used to be part of my routine and I used to skip straight to foundation as the first step, but since hearing applying moisturiser helps your foundation go on smoother and help it absorb better, I gave it a shot, liked the results and have kept doing it since.
I’m currently using face cream from a Japanese brand called Kose. It’s a very lightweight water based moisturiser which contains herbal extracts. This is a little too luxurious for everyday wear and a little does go a long way, but the cream is definitely moisturising and after using this for a few weeks, I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my skin. It’s much softer and smoother compared to the effects of other creams out there. If you can get your hands on this, definitely give it a try.
Unfortunately this isn’t available in Australia however I have seen this at cosmetic stores at the airport if you happen to be there. Also available at Sekkisei.usa.com (USA)
Face primer
I’m currently using Sephora’s smoothing primer. They’ve changed the packaging since I last bought this a few years ago and by the looks of it, changed the formula also. This didn’t come with a box when I bought it but by the printing on their packaging, the ingredients in this are Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone Crosspolymer and Phenoxyethanol. Their new primer has much more ingredients than this. I’m yet to try the new formulation so I’m not sure what the difference would be but as far as this one goes, it goes on very smoothly when applied and a little does go a long way.

Foundation
My current everyday foundation is L’oreal True Match foundation in 4N Golden Beige in the old formulation – they’ve reformulated and changed the packaging of this since. This received rave reviews from both bloggers and youtubers alike so I was really excited to try this. I have oily skin and quite frankly was very disappointed when I first tried this. It was nothing like the reviews were saying and for me, was probably one of the most horrible foundations I’ve ever tried.
Upon application, this went on beautifully, blended very easily and set quite nicely on the skin. However, during the course of the day, the foundation had broken down on my forehead and in my inner eye area, there were streaks on my face where I had scratched or touched my face, and it was patches galore. It was horrible! Did any of you guys experience this or did I just get a bad batch?
However! I found a product which I’ll mention later that surprisingly made this foundation last and streak free to the point where I think I can get my money’s worth and finish the bottle now! I still don’t think this foundation is great though..not for oily skin anyway.
Brows
I’m sure you guys are all familiar with Anastasia Beverly Hills, they make some of the best eyebrow products and the one I’m using at the moment is the ABH Brow Powder Duo in dark brown. The product is great and gives a really natural finish but I think I’ll go a shade darker next time. I have really dark to black hair and this was still a little too light for me. Despite this, the product is great, big thumbs up from me.
Eye primer
I’m currently using the Urban Decay original primer potion and loving it. My eyelids can get quite oily and this helps not only make my shadows more vibrant and long lasting but also helps prevent shadows from creasing. Depending on how much you apply, you can get the occasional creasing here and there but this is one of the better primers that I’ve used.

Eyeshadow
Depending on what I feel like on the day, there’s a few palettes that I use on rotation for work everyday. My current palettes are the Urban Decay naked 1 and 3, Models prefer palette in Day to Night and the W7 Palette.
Urban Decay palettes are a staple and I think every makeup lover should own at least 1. The pigments are great, easily blendible and long lasting.
Models Prefer is an Australian brand with products that come at an affordable price. This palette is only $10 and I couldn’t believe how incredibly smooth, buttery and blendible this was! The pigmentation may not be as strong as higher end brands but for the price and the texture, this is a great palette to have if you’re on a budget or just starting out.
Eyeliner
To be honest, liquid liner is not my strong point and not practical to use if you don’t have long to get ready (unless you’ve mastered your liner skills of course in which case, hi-5!). I like to use something a little more natural looking and forgivable even if accuracy is not 100% there. For years I’ve been using eyeshadows in the Sleek I-Divine eyeshadow palette as my winged liner. The main shades I use are mainly those in the top row of the palette. Not all of them at the same time of course, but I’ll usually mix either the dark navy or black with another colour in the same row for a slight pop of colour. Not too boring and not too vibrant for everyday wear, you know?

Mascara
My current mascara is the L’oreal Mega Volume Miss Manga mascara. I have very short, stiff straight asian lashes so most mascaras that I use are almost no good for me. This mascara does have a wet formula and I found that it didn’t take long for this mascara to dry out to the right consistency. You know how some mascaras are really wet when you first buy it and over time as they dry out, you find their consistency works a little better for your lashes than when you first opened the tube? Like that 🙂 In terms of performance, this mascara I’d say does lengthen and separate your lashes but not very voluminous as I’d like it to be.
Concealer
My favourite drugstore concealers of all time are the Maybelline Fit me concealer and the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealer. I’m currently using the Rimmel match perfection concealer in 60 Natural Beige and have surprisingly found this to be very good. There aren’t many good drugstore concealers out there in the market but this one is definitely a hidden gem. What makes this so good? Compared to other beige concealers, this one is a little more on the pinky/peachy side which is good for hiding those purple bags. Depending on how much you apply, you may end up with some creases in your fine lines but grab a cotton tip and dab some of that excess product away and you should be good to go.
The packaging of this is also great as it’s so long and thin, it fits very nicely into your hands and is easy to hold. The fact that you can squeeze the tube means that you can control how much product you want to come out. One tiny little thing I noticed that bugged me was the fact that sometimes the product wouldn’t come out evenly on both sides of the brush. Sometimes more product would peer out from one side of the brush compared to the other but that’s just me being picky.
Bronzer/Contour
My current bronzer at the moment is Mac mineralise skin finish natural in Deep Dark. For everyday wear, I much prefer a subtle bronzed glow on the cheeks and this does the job nicely. I like to apply this on my cheekbones, on the temples and under my jaw bone – kind of like that number 3 technique around your face to give a bit of colour and dimension to the face.
Face powder
To set my makeup, I like to go in with a face powder and the one I’m using at the moment is the Rimmel Stay Matte powder in translucent. For an everyday powder, this does the job and I like to apply this before my blush so that it doesn’t tone down the colour if I was to apply it on top.
Blush
For those beautiful glowing rosy cheeks, I’m currently using Benefit’s Bella Bamba blush which unfortunately I believe is now discontinued. That’s how long ago I bought it and how long it has lasted! This does have small light reflecting bits in it but not too overpowering that your cheeks are glowing like a disco ball.
Lip balm
During the winter months, I prefer to wear lip balm as they are very comfortable to wear and give my dry lips the conditioning that it needs. For the past few months I’ve been using the Blistex Lip conditioning balm with spf 20. It’s small, handbag and travel friendly, gives you the right amount of conditioning that you need with an ever slight hint of shine.
L’occitane setting spray
To finish off my routine, remember how earlier I mentioned how I stumbled across a product that made my foundation last, well this is it! At first I had no idea why my foundation wasn’t breaking down as easily as it originally did but over time, with a bit of trial and error, I noticed it was this spray that was making a difference. The best trick with setting sprays is to spray up into the air and let the mist fall on your face as opposed to spraying it directly on your face. This is a very nice, refreshing spray with a hint of a rosy scent that’s not too overpowering. It probably isn’t one of the finer mists out there on the market but that’s just me being picky now. Overall, I was very surprised at how well this performed and would definitely repurchase and recommend this!
Available at L’occitane
That pretty much wraps it up. Told ya! That’s a lot I know but that’s pretty much my face everyday! All up, it takes me about 20-25 minutes to get all that on. Now of course, you’re probably reading this thinking ‘what the heck? That’s a LOT of makeup for everyday!’ It sure is and yours may only be a few from that list! And that’s ok!

Till next time xo
