Why hello! Wherever you are in the world, hope you’re having a fabulous day. As promised, today I bring you my first empties collection, the beloved concealers.
For those of you who are blessed with not having to deal with dark, heavy eye bags, I envy you! For the rest of us, trying to find the right concealer to hide these bad boys is a struggle.
Here are my thoughts on some that I’ve tried.
From left to right:
E.l.f studio concealer in Ivory – this is quite a thick concealer with a tendency to be a little on the drier side. It does have a bit of a pink undertone which is great considering there’s not many pink/salmon toned concealers on the market. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to fully try this out as the concealer completely snapped & broke upon application. The packaging is very small and sleek which is great for travel, but yes do be careful when applying otherwise yours might end up on the floor like mine did!
Cover Girl TruConceal – this concealer has now been discontinued and it’s been so long since I’ve used it that all the labels have rubbed off. From memory, this concealer was very thick, dry and cakey doing no good but settling into fine lines. Cover Girl has changed their formula and released the invisible concealer. Have you tried this? Has the formula improved? Share your thoughts, I’d like to know 🙂
Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer in fair and medium – Ahh Maybelline. They have got to be one of the best drugstore brands with great products at affordable prices. This concealer has got to be one of my all time favourites. As you can see, I’ve gone through more than one tube which means I LOVE THIS! Available in fair, light and medium, this liquid concealer is very lightweight, has good coverage and blends very well. On first use, you may need to twist this thing a lot to get the product up to the sponge but once it gets going, it works like a charm. This comes with a sponge tip applicator to help you apply, but I find that it helps to use this applicator to place the product under the eyes or where required, then use a brush to work the product into your skin.
Maybelline Fit Me concealer in Light – Just as good, if not better than the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind concealer, this is probably my most favourite drugstore concealer of all time. Slightly thicker than the Instant Age Rewind, this concealer is very creamy, is easy to blend, has great coverage and set with powder, lasts all day long. I’ve also gone through more than one of these. That’s how much I love it!
Maybelline mineral power natural perfecting concealer in light/ivory – Maybelline has come a long way with their products and this was one of their earlier concealers. Similar to the Fit Me concealer, this was a tiny bit thick in texture but has very good coverage. Unfortunately with all good products, this has been discontinued.
Essence cover stick in matt beige – Essence has some great products at such cheap prices that you really have nothing to lose when it comes to trying their products out. This little beauty is great if you’re on a budget and does the job. Available in stick form, this concealer can be a little dry so you’ll have to moisturise well, work this product into the skin and set with powder. Unlike the e.l.f studio concealer, I had no issues with this breaking at all.
Maybelline dream mousse concealer in natural – This was my least favourite product amongst the lot. Unlike the name suggests, this product was not smooth or mousse like at all. Perhaps I wasn’t using it correctly or applying with the right tools but I found this to be incredibly dry and cakey. Unlike the foundation version, this has been discontinued also. Was this one of your favourites?
Were any of these your favourite? Let me know which ones I should try next 🙂
