Welcome back beauties to another monthly empties. This has been a pretty slow month beauty wise so the items I’ve used up are as you’ll see – quite dispensable and doesn’t take much to use up at all. Where I can, I’ll leave links to where you can purchase these below.
L’occitane Pivoine Sublime Perfecting Cream with Peony Extract – 50ml – $65
L’occitane has never disappointed me with any of their products and this was no different. Upon opening up this jar of goodness, you can smell a light and pleasant scent of peonies.
The texture of this cream is a little on the thicker side but having said so, it doesn’t sit heavily on your skin at all. When applied, the cream is fast absorbing and depending on how much you apply, which you won’t need much by the way, you’ll feel the moisture on your skin for hours. I used this as a night cream and my skin still felt hydrated in the morning.
The packaging is uniquely shaped compared to other creams, is made of sturdy glass, is quite heavy but for the price you pay, it is nice when it comes with extra pretty packaging and not feel cheap.
For $65, the quality of this cream, like all L’occitane creams is great. I’d definitely recommend this and purchase again.
Available at L’occitane
Essence Gel Liner – 02 London Baby – 3ml
I bought this little guy at a Heat Warehouse Sale years ago for less than $5. For a long time I didn’t use this as I was so used to using eyeshadow as my liner, but then eventually migrated to gel liner and haven’t stopped since.
The texture of this is extremely soft, creamy and cushiony. As this was my first actual liner pot, I had little expectations and for a long time, this liner was great and served it’s purpose. It has a lovely brown neutral colour perfect for everyday wear. Only downside is, now I’m not sure if it’s because I’ve had this for so long but over time, I felt like I couldn’t get a smooth application with this and it wasn’t because it had dried out. Having said this, after using other gel liners, I realise this has outstanding lasting power that does not dry out in the pot anywhere near as fast as other liners!
For less than $5, this is a great product if you’re on a budget or are starting out and want to experiment. It lasted far longer than I expected and for the price, you really can’t go wrong. I can’t seem to find this in stores anymore so it may have been discontinued, which I hope not as it is such a great liner!
Max Factor Age Renew Foundation – 75 Golden
This is another one of those products I purchased years ago, started using, then left it forgotten for ages only to pull it back out and decided to finish it recently. Not sure why I did this because this foundation is actually quite lovely. It has a kind of whipped texture that’s not too liquidy nor too thick and has a beautiful scent to it only detected once you apply it on your face.
Compared to some other foundations for oily skin, this foundation didn’t break down as bad, in fact it actually lasted quite well. For those with dry skin, this may cling to dry patches so you may want to moisturise before applying. I tend to powder my face in the morning anyway and by the end of the day, the oils were starting to peep through which I’d expect.
The packaging comes in a plastic bottle with a pump which I appreciate and the size of the bottle is quite small and compact too – yet you’re still getting 30ml of product. Definitely would recommend this and repurchase.
Nivea Daily Essentials Double Effect Eye Make-up Remover – 125ml – <$10
Pretty standard drugstore eye make-up remover that does what it should. Suitable for all skin types, it removes eye make-up hassle free without irritating your eyes.
It comes in a plastic bottle with a small hole opening to pour out the product, the bottle doesn’t leak, price point is cheap for drugstore and for everyday use.
Compared to some other eye removers I’ve used, I don’t think I’ll be repurchasing this as it wasn’t anything outstanding.
Available at Chemist Warehouse, Priceline and local supermarkets
Health and Beauty 30 x Premium Face Wipes (pack of 3)
Again another great cheap product for everyday use. I bought this a while ago at Chemist Warehouse and it came in a pack of 3 for around $5. This is a bargain and does the job well at removing the bulk of your makeup. If double cleansing is part of your routine, this will do the job just fine. This has no fragrance so is gentle enough to suit all skin types.
I think I prefer my Target and Kmart $2 wipes a tad more but it’s good to know these are also available if you’re looking for something cheap in bulk.
Sanctuary Spa Covent Garden – White Lily and Damask Rose Body Wash – 250ml
Sanctuary Spa is one of the more luxurious skin care and bath and body brands that is available at an affordable price. These products were made to use in a ‘sanctuary spa’ in London however since 2014, they’ve stopped trading but have however continued to sell their products online and lucky for us, are made available at Priceline.
This body wash is beautiful. It’s lightly scented to give you that heavenly smell similar to a spa experience you’d get, has small beads to gently exfoliate your skin and leaves it feeling soft and smooth after your shower.
The packaging is also beautiful with the design very simple yet elegant. The bottle itself is plastic but very sturdy and comes with a closed top lid.
I’d definitely recommend this and will repurchase again.
That’s a wrap for my empties this month, see you back here soon for another instalment of empties!
Till next time xo
